A structured annual programme of lectures, profiling, coaching workshops, and individual development, delivered across the senior programme of Australian independent schools. Anchored by instruments built specifically for cricket and football at this age and level.
Rob has assessed young athletes professionally for fifteen years. He has also lived the other side of it: the early starts, the carnival weeks, the selection days that went your way and the ones that did not, and the quiet drives home afterwards. The programme is built with both in view: the cricketer in the middle, and the family around them.
The programme is modular. Every engagement includes the full lecture series and an end-of-season Director's review. Tiers differ in depth of profiling, coaching work, and individual development.
Five evening sessions across the season, delivered to the senior squads. Content tracks the arc of the season from pre-season through finals. One session is delivered to players and parents together.
Every player in the 1st and 2nd squads completes the CVMP (cricket) or FVMP (football) profile. Twenty minutes per player. Profiles stay private between practitioner and player. More on the profiling tools →
Three ninety-minute workshops with your coaching group across the season. Not generic professional development. Anchored in what your squads' profiles are actually showing that year.
Eight to ten sixty-minute deep-dive sessions with the players the profiles identify as most likely to shift. Written profile delivered privately. Behavioural commitment and follow-up built in.
Four to six dedicated sessions across the season with the captain, vice-captain, and leadership group of the 1st squad. Framed around role-specific pressure.
Once profiling is complete, each squad receives a ninety-minute session walking the players through the aggregate pattern of their own data. This is where the programme stops being generic and starts being about your specific group.
End-of-season session with the Director of Sport and head coach. What the data said. What the season surfaced. What to build toward next year. Included in every tier.
The topics are fixed. The content inside them is not. From Session Two onward, lecture material is anchored to what the profiling has surfaced in your specific squads that year. The boys in the room hear material that describes them.
Talent gets a boy into the senior programme. It does not get him through it. This opener introduces the eight psychological dimensions that separate the players who kick on from those who stall, and primes every boy in the room to take the profiling seriously.
Growth beliefs and deliberate practice, reframed as the habits that separate the players who actually improve through the year from those who stagnate. Distinguishes growth-mindset language from growth-mindset behaviour.
Identity anchoring, the transition after senior school sport, and the relationship between outcome-contingent identity and wellbeing. The parent-facing session. Sits alongside the College's wellbeing team rather than competing with it.
The 4Rs framework (Reflect, Relax, Reset, Refocus) delivered properly with sport-specific scenarios. Timed for the point in the season when at least a third of the boys will have had a genuine adversity moment.
The closing session. Reflects back on the season through the lens of the profiles and the coaching workshops. Names (anonymously) the patterns that played out, what they cost the group, and what they produced.
Once the squad profiling has completed, the lecture content, coaching workshops, and individual sessions are all shaped by the actual patterns in your squads that year. Same topics across every school. Different content inside them.
A squad with a cluster of one pattern needs different material than a squad with a different dominant pattern. The five session topics do not change. What changes is the weight, the examples, the case vignettes, and the take-home reflections.
The boys recognise themselves in the material. That is the difference between a guest lecture and a programme.
Schools engage at the tier that matches budget and ambition. The tiers are cumulative. All pricing below is for single-code engagement, annual, GST-exclusive, all-inclusive (travel within metropolitan Adelaide). Dual-code pricing available at a further saving.
A live example profile of a fictional senior school cricketer. Radar chart, dimension scores with interpretive language, cross-pattern detection, credibility layer, conversation starters, and coaching direction.
A First XI opening batter. Meticulous preparation, comes apart when it stops producing. One of the most recognisable patterns at senior school level.
View the sample profileFifteen years in AFL recruiting, plus junior and senior men's coaching across that span. Currently coaching the First XI at Sacred Heart College, and working one-to-one with current first-class cricketers. The Coaching Nexus is the consultancy; the CVMP and FVMP are the profiling instruments built out of that coaching and recruiting experience, grounded in established sport psychology theory (Achievement Goal Theory, Self-Determination Theory, Mental Toughness, Implicit Theories of Ability, ACT-based values work).
The instruments are in their first season of use. Formal psychometric validation is in progress and not represented otherwise. The value is the pattern recognition at elite level, delivered in a structured way, in the language of the change room rather than the clinic.
I will bring a live example profile, walk you through what the programme would involve at your College, and answer any question you want to put to me. If the programme does not fit, the pitch dies in the meeting and you have given up half an hour.
