Performance mindset coaching for cricketers, athletes, leaders and teams operating in high-pressure environments.
The Coaching Nexus walks alongside professional cricketers, developing athletes, and business leaders to build structured mental skills that hold up when the pressure is highest. No platitudes. No quick fixes. Deliberate, evidence-based performance architecture.
Shifting attention from scoreboard pressure to controllable, repeatable actions that compound into consistent performance over time.
Building cognitive frameworks that sharpen judgement when fatigue, emotion, and complexity converge in critical moments.
Systematic programs that train attention, self-regulation, and psychological flexibility as deliberately as any physical skill.
Grounded in applied performance science and fifteen years of pattern recognition at elite level. Not motivational rhetoric. Measurable, repeatable methods.
Performance under pressure follows universal principles, whether you're walking out to bat, walking into a domestic, briefing a board, or briefing a mission. The environments differ; the mental architecture does not.
Skill, cognition, emotion, and environment are not separate domains. They interact dynamically. A technically gifted athlete who cannot regulate attention under pressure is no more prepared than one who lacks technique entirely.
Sustainable excellence requires structured reflection, not just intensity. Growth demands discomfort and deliberate practice, not comfort and repetition. And beneath it all, connection drives performance. Connection to self, to others, and to purpose.
Professional sport and high performance are 80% above the shoulders. The difference is connection.
The Coaching Nexus model is built on the premise that self-awareness is the foundation. Without it, technical development is fragile, tactical understanding is shallow, and physical capacity is underutilised.
A structured hierarchy that keeps attention where it belongs. On what you can control.
Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound, evaluated, and reviewed. Goals that evolve with the athlete.
Thinking about thinking. Building awareness of your own cognitive patterns under pressure.
The capacity to manage impulse, maintain focus, and adapt strategy in real time.
Creating space between stimulus and response. Where composure lives.
The ability to stay present, hold discomfort, and act in line with values under pressure.
The Coaching Nexus was built from a simple observation. The most talented athletes, leaders, and teams are rarely the most successful. Success belongs to those who can think clearly under pressure, regulate their emotions when it matters, and connect their daily actions to a deeper sense of purpose.
The consultancy is run by Rob Gregory. Twenty years in high-stakes operational work in specialist emergency management contexts. Fifteen years in AFL recruiting alongside that, plus junior and senior men's coaching across the span. Currently coaching the First XI at Sacred Heart College, and working one-to-one with current first-class cricketers. The pattern recognition is not theoretical, and the read on what people do under pressure is not borrowed from a textbook.
The work is grounded in applied performance science and built around a family of profiling instruments developed at elite level: the CVMP for cricket, the FVMP for AFL, and parallel versions for netball, basketball and hockey. The full instrument is practitioner-led; a self-serve Profile is also available as the entry-level read. Those instruments sit inside a broader coaching architecture that translates complex science into practical tools athletes and leaders can actually use under pressure. This is not about sitting across a desk and asking how something makes you feel. This is about walking with you. Into the nets, into the boardroom, into the difficult conversations. Helping you build the mental architecture to perform when it counts.
Structured programs tailored to the demands of your environment. Every engagement is designed around your specific performance context. Not a one-size-fits-all template.
Structured 1:1 mindset coaching designed for athletes and leaders who want to build consistent performance systems, not just survive high-pressure moments.
Building collective mental fitness across sporting teams and academies. From leadership structures to communication systems that hold under pressure.
Translating high-performance principles from elite sport into business leadership. The boardroom and the arena share more than most realise.
The introductory read of the same architecture. Take it from anywhere in twelve to fifteen minutes and receive a written report. Available in cricket, AFL, netball, basketball and hockey vocabularies.
The best thing I have done for my cricket. It put words around stuff I had half-noticed about myself for years.
The bits I scored amber on were the bits I knew were true. Made it harder to ignore.
A universal cycle that turns the pauses you already have into performance. Used by cricketers, footballers, golfers, tennis players, and executives. Same framework, many settings.
An honest two-second read of the moment just past. Not analysis. Not judgement.
Physiology leads psychology. One controlled breath, drop the shoulders, release the grip.
A deliberate cue that closes the previous moment. A word, an action, a fixed point to look at.
One clear intention for the moment ahead. Not a list. A single next action.
